Questions
Bending and rolling FAQ
How much does metal bending cost?
Liva Forming in Delta says its minimum for a small job is usually $75 to $150. Ask for setup, material and bending as separate lines.
What is the difference between bending and rolling?
Bending makes sharp angles, on a press brake or a tube bender. Rolling makes smooth curves, like a cylinder or a curved beam. Many shops do both.
What should a tube bending drawing show?
The tube size, wall thickness and material, the centre line radius, each bend angle and the quantity. Ask the shop to check it against its tooling before you buy material.
Can a shop roll plate into a cone?
Many plate rolling shops make cylinders, cones and curved panels. Send the finished size and the plate thickness, and ask whether it fits their rolls.
Good to know
Remtek Industries in Aldergrove lists a 175 ton CNC press brake with a 12 foot length.
Ask for setup, material and bending as separate lines on the quote.
For an odd shape, send a sample part or a photo with sizes.
The prices above come from the town named in each line. Ask Langley shops for theirs.
