Metal Shop Guide

How it works

How Metal Shop Guide works

Find shops, send one request, get replies straight from the shops. Free for buyers.

  1. 01

    Find shops

Browse by job type. Profiles show machines, materials and certifications.

  2. 02

    Send one request

Say what you need, how many and by when. Add files or photos.

  3. 03

    We pass it on

Up to 3 shops get it by email, or by phone from us.

  4. 04

    Shops contact you

They reply by email or phone with questions or a quote.

  5. 05

    You choose

Compare what comes back and deal with the shop directly.

A good request gets better replies

  • What it is: one line, like "steel bracket for a truck rack"
  • How many: one part or a run, with a number
  • Material: steel, stainless, aluminum or "not sure"
  • Size: rough is fine
  • Finish: paint, powder coat, anodize or none
  • When: a date, or "flexible"
  • Files: a drawing, a CAD file or a phone photo

Not sure about some of it? Leave it blank. Shops ask.

What we don't do

  • We don't quote prices ourselves
  • We don't send your request to more than 3 shops
  • We don't sell or share your details with anyone else

Questions

Good to know

How are shops picked for my request?

We match the work you ask for to what each shop lists. You can also pick up to 3 shops yourself.

What does it cost?

Nothing for buyers. The quote comes from the shop, and you pay the shop if you go ahead.

What files can I attach?

Up to 5 files, 25 MB in total: PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, STL, JPG or PNG.

Do you check the shops?

We list what shops publish on their own sites and in public records. We don't inspect shops, so ask for proof of anything that matters to your job.

Will I get spam?

No. Your request goes only to the shops it is sent to. We never sell your details.

Need something made?

One free request reaches up to 3 local shops that do the work.
