It depends on the machine. One Ottawa shop's fibre laser cuts steel to 20 mm and stainless or aluminum to 10 mm.
That's plasma or waterjet work. The same Ottawa shop's plasma cuts mild steel clean to 32 mm.
Thick plate, stone and non-tempered glass. One Oakville shop cuts up to 12 inches thick on a 5 by 10 foot bed.
Posted rates we found run $180 to $250 an hour online, and $200 an hour at an Ontario shop. One BC shop charges at least $250.
