What to send the shop

  • Yearly volume and lot sizes
  • Material and thickness

Questions

Metal stamping FAQ

What should I send for a stamping quote?

Send the part drawing, material, thickness, lot sizes and yearly volume. Say whether tooling already exists and who owns it.

Is there a minimum run?

Ask for the minimum order and the price at your expected quantities. Keep tooling charges separate from the recurring part price.

Who owns the die?

Set this out in the quote. Ask who stores and maintains it, and whether you can move it to another supplier.

Good to know

  • For a small batch, ask whether cutting and bending would avoid the cost of a new die.
  • No Kitchener shop we checked posts prices for this. Send a request to compare quotes.
