  • A machine too big or too broken to move

  • Photos of the damage, close up and whole
  • Where the machine sits and how to reach it

Questions

Heavy equipment repair FAQ

What does heavy equipment repair cost?

Harker Equipment in Lethbridge posts $140 an hour in the shop and $165 an hour for field service. Ask your shop about travel, truck charges and minimums.

Can heavy equipment be repaired on site?

Many shops run service trucks with welders and tools. Ask whether they can reach the damage where the machine sits, or whether it must come in.

What is hardfacing?

Welding a hard wear layer onto bucket edges, teeth and other parts that grind against rock and soil. Badly worn parts may need rebuilding first.

Should worn pin bores be checked too?

Yes. Worn bores let new pins loosen fast. Ask the shop to check pins, bushings and bores, and whether line boring is in the quote.
